No watch, but I have a clock on the living room and kitchen walls. I don't like having to check my phone. It's also good for teaching the grandchildren analogue methods. I remember doing a Just Seventeen vox pop on Oxford Street in about 1985 when digital watches were all the rage, to see if kids could tell the time on a clock face. They couldn't!
I realised how important clocks in public places still are when I handed my iPhone in to the Apple Store to get the battery changed and was given a time slot to come back and pick it up. Great! Chance to have lunch and browse. But there were no clocks anywhere in the shopping mall. It was disorientating to not know the time. I guessed and was 20 minutes early back at the store.
Have you worked out how your Houdini dog opened the door, Steven?!
Do kids today get taught how to tell the time on old-fashioned clocks at school? I remember being shocked at having to learn to tell the time in a completely different way when I was learning Catalan. We still have no idea how Beckett got out!
Have asked, and seven-year old is taught to tell the time on an analogue clock face in Maths at school. Doesn’t necessarily see it often “in the wild” though!
I have a kitchen clock. When I’m at home that’s my point of reference for time in my house.
Great points you make in your essay. Thank you.
My grandad was an amateur horologist, so I've inherited a fair few but forget to wind 'em up

Good question! Checking now how my grandchildren are being taught in school or nursery.
